18. IT
I saw the movie It this weekend, and I thought it was so good. I had never seen the original or read the book. So I did a bunch of research and found out some cool things about the movie.

I haven't been able to sleep well, and it would be fine if I had just watched the movie, but I've been doing a bunch of research and have been thinking about it a lot. Still, I plan on seeing the movie again with my sister and mom.

Easter Eggs
- When Richie goes into the room with all of the clowns, the clown on the left of Pennywise resembles Tim Curry's clown in the first It mini series
- The lego turtle that Bill holds and drops was symbolism for Maturin
- Eddie wore a shirt with Christine on it, the evil car
- When Patrick sees the balloon that says "I heart Derry", that is a nod to the scene in the book when a gay man was killed wearing a hat that said the same thing
- At the end of the movie, after the Losers Gang take an oath in a circle, they leave in the order they die
- The lumberjack statue that is shown when the Loser's club is talking and Mike reveals his backstory is a reference to the manifestation of It that terrorized Richie in the books
- When It says "beep beep Richie", that is a nod to the book, where all the kids would say that to shut Richie up
- Pennywise showed his true form, the "Deadlights", when he captures Beverly
Things I found out about the story
- Beverly saw the future when she was in a trance
- Beverly wasn't that affected because she faced her biggest fear- her father
- Stan saw the deadlights too when he was being eaten and it affected him a lot
- The title of this film is actually "It Chapter One- The Losers Club"
- IT isn't really dead, just injured and having to go into slumber
- Henry isn't dead, and ends up confessing to the murders of the missing children
Differences from the book
- They did not put in the sewer orgy scene between all the kids. Good choice.
- They changed the manifestations of It, to make them more modern, instead of having a mummy and Frankenstein's monster
- They also omitted the scene where the kids get high and hallucinate It's alien origins
- Patrick was much more important in the book, having killed his baby brother
- The other two bullies die in the book
- The movie split up part one and two into different movies
Behind the scenes
- The kid who played Stan also played young Peter Quill in the first Guardians of the Galaxy Movie!
- Bill Skarsgard used to do the thing with his lip where he points it down and his friends used to think it was creepy
- The kid actors are all very cute and fun together
- Jack Dylan Grazer makes a lot of really weird videos where he starts sentences and doesn't really end them
- The directors of Stranger Things wanted to direct IT but they said they didn't have enough experience, so that's why they went on to direct Stranger Things instead
Things I noticed
- The scene where Richie and Bill fight was a lot like the scene in Stranger Things, which also involved Finn Wolfhard
- In general it was a lot like Stranger Things (funny, 14 year old kids, bikes, vintage, chasing around a monster looking for a missing boy close to them)
- Georgie was so cute!!! My goodness
- Patrick looks a lot like the new Roderick in Diary of a Wimpy Kid
I haven't been able to sleep well, and it would be fine if I had just watched the movie, but I've been doing a bunch of research and have been thinking about it a lot. Still, I plan on seeing the movie again with my sister and mom.
